“Coco the deaf cat”, is the first cat that our founder Coco rescued in London back in 2018.
Our founder Coco would like to share the story herself:
" In 2018 when I was an international student new to the UK, I came across a small, scruffy stray cat near my apartment. Though cat looked lost and worn, I was not sure if it's just an outdoor cat going out for an adventure, and kept hoping to see signs of an owner.
But after a few days, it still stayed in the same small area and was clearly on its own. I can't see it starve, so I bought a carrier and took it to a nearby shelter - Celia Hammond Animal Trust. I requested a scan for microchip and wanted to ensure it was healthy and safe. The scan came back clean - he had no owner.

I gladly proposed to adopt him myself but only to be told that in the UK, all strays are considered property of the Crown. With that, the shelter had to take him in, and I was left with a bittersweet goodbye.
The following days I grew the habit of browsing the shelter’s website consistently. And finally saw a familiar face after 2 weeks —a newly found deaf cat named “Coco.” The shelter had him named after me. Coco is the magic name we share.
When we first launched Cococat, we made monetary donation of £1000 to the charity ANFFF foundation in the first month, plus donations in the form of cat litter products. We also worked with Meow Meow Rescue in raising awareness for UAE stray cat crisis and fostering support. As for myself, I took in a cat that was abandoned by her previous owner, and she's our covergirl for Cococat tofu cat litter now. "
Our mission is simple: to keep the donations and support going because it’s why we started in the first place. At Cococat, we believe every cat deserves love, care, and a place to call home.
